Description

Dr. Javier Asin graduated from the University of Zaragoza, Spain, where he also completed his PhD in Animal Health and pathology residency training. He became a diplomate of the European College of Veterinary Pathologists in 2019. Relocating to California in 2020, he currently works as a diagnostic pathologist and Assistant Professor at the San Bernardino branch of the California Animal Health and Food Safety Laboratory System, University of California-Davis. His primary interests are infectious diseases of livestock, particularly horses and small ruminants, pathology of the respiratory tract, and rabbit hemorrhagic disease and other diseases affecting lagomorphs.

Javier is committed to advancing international veterinary pathology education and, since 2023, he has served on the board of directors of the Davis-Thompson Foundation. He is one of the managing editors of the Foundation’s monthly newsletter and frequently delivers lectures for the Foundation and its Latin American division, the Latin Comparative Pathology Group. Additionally, he collaborates closely with the Global Health Pathology Network, which provides training and guidance in global health utilizing veterinary pathology as a tool across multiple countries.
